The Nexys A7 AMD Artix™-7 FPGA Trainer Board (formerly known as the Nexys 4 DDR) is a professional FPGA development and training platform designed by Digilent for digital logic design, embedded systems, and computer engineering education. Built around the AMD Artix™-7 XC7A100T-1CSG324C FPGA, the board offers an excellent balance of performance, versatility, and ease of use for both classroom learning and advanced prototyping.
The board comes with a rich set of onboard peripherals, including 128 MB DDR2 memory, 10/100 Ethernet, USB-JTAG, USB-UART, VGA output, microSD card slot, PDM microphone, temperature sensor, 3-axis accelerometer, LEDs, switches, push buttons, and seven-segment displays. It also provides multiple Pmod expansion connectors, allowing users to easily interface with additional peripherals and custom hardware.
Fully supported by the AMD Vivado™ Design Suite (Standard Edition), the Nexys A7 enables developers and students to implement FPGA designs using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog. It is widely used in universities and research laboratories for FPGA education, embedded processor development, digital signal processing (DSP), computer architecture, and hardware acceleration projects.
