The LM75A is a high-speed I2C-based digital temperature sensor module designed to measure temperature in the range of -55°C to +125°C. It converts temperature directly into a digital signal, allowing microcontrollers (MCU) to read accurate data through the I2C bus without requiring external ADC conversion.

The module includes internal registers that can be accessed via I2C to configure different operating modes and manage temperature data. It also supports selectable I2C addressing, enabling up to eight devices to operate on the same bus without address conflict. In addition, the sensor allows users to set over-temperature protection thresholds, making it suitable for safety and control applications in embedded systems.

Important Notes

  • The OS (Over-temperature Shutdown) pin is optional and not required for basic temperature reading.

  • Incorrect wiring may result in "no device found" error in Arduino scan.

Arduino Connection Guide

Connect the LM75A sensor to the Arduino UNO R4 by wiring VCC, GND, SDA, and SCL correctly. Then upload an I2C Scanner sketch to confirm that the sensor is detected on the I2C bus, typically at address 0x48. This step ensures proper power supply and communication.

After successful detection, upload a Temperature Reading sketch and monitor the output in the Serial Monitor. The temperature values should remain stable and change when the sensor is exposed to heat, such as from a finger or warm air. Optionally, the OS pin can be connected to a digital input to test the over-temperature alert function. Proper detection and accurate readings confirm that the module is working correctly.
