What is an RCBO?

An RCBO (Residual Current Circuit Breaker with Overcurrent Protection) combines the functions of an MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) and an RCD/RCCB (Residual Current Device) into one device.

Operating Principle

The TPNL RCBO continuously compares the current flowing through the live conductor with the current returning through the neutral conductor.

Under normal conditions:

Current entering = Current leaving

If leakage occurs due to:

  • Damaged insulation
  • Faulty appliances
  • Human contact with live conductors
  • Moisture ingress

the current balance is disturbed.

When the leakage exceeds 30mA, the breaker instantly disconnects the circuit to protect users and equipment.
